Muñiz: “We must maintain this ambition”

The Málaga CF coach talks about the great work of his team. “Before the first minute was up there was strong pressure, ball possession and counterattacks” he affirmed.

There are no comfortable games

“There are never any comfortable matches. To be comfortable you have to compete and work well. We were fortunate, sought out the goal and scored a very early opener. This opens up the game, gives you confidence, peace of mind and enables you to manage play better”.

Leader

“The leadership is not so important at the moment, it’s about scoring points, and if it’s three at a time then all the better. The standings will move, we need to focus on doing our job and staying strong mentally. We cannot move up when we’re at the top, nor down when we’re not leading the table”.

Judgement and reading

Before the first minute was up there was strong pressure, ball possession and counterattacks. The team worked very well for the 90 minutes, with great judgement and reading every part of the game well. There was a moment when they had possession and the team was orderly and calm and didn’t allow them to generate opportunities. When there were chances, a lot of damage was done to the opposing team, and when we had to have the ball, we had it. It’s a reason to congratulate the players”.

Complete match

“Hopefully we’ll see many games like this one. It was a complete match from start to finish, both in attack and defence, with ambition, enthusiasm and hunger. We must maintain this ambition until the last day. The team needs to give everything, even on days when we don’t win”.

Fans

“We have to keep insisting on our work. We’re grateful to the fans, and tomorrow we’ll get back to training, with an unusual temperature for Málaga… When we go out on the pitch we know we have a responsibility and will always defend this jersey with maximum enthusiasm and hard work. This is a long race, we’re happy as we can see we’re on the right track and are getting closer to where we want to be”.
