Muñiz: “We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy journey”

The Málaga CF manager highlighted the equality that was witnessed at La Rosaleda and pointed out that Granada had “success at the right time.”

Difficulty

“When you start the league you know what can happen during the season, we know that the only way was to work and prepare for the next game, neither a defeat nor a victory will make our spirits go through the roof and nor we will fall on our knees. We are working so that, when the end of the season arrives, we will be as high up the table as possible.  Nobody had told us when we started that it was going to be easy, indeed quite the opposite. A long and hard journey, we knew that it wouldn’t just be difficult, but far more than that.”

Equality

“As for opportunities and game-play, if we take a look at the two teams we couldn’t differentiate one from the other, it was a very close match, very close with very few opportunities and then they had the right success at the right time.”

 Two very even teams

“I see two very even teams, the first two or three chances were ours. We are probably saying that they played a great game, but I don’t think it was like that, it was a very close match.  The two teams did a very good job; we had a very good team that allowed us to have few chances, as we did to them too.”

The Granada, a good team

“The team did a good serious job, disciplined. We lacked a little fluidity, but it wasn’t really about what we were missing, but instead about their success. The wings had help, the midfielder didn’t let Blanco and Harper play... We found a team in front that knew how to work the match very well and in the end what counts is the result, but we are two very similar teams.”

Relaxed

“It’s very important that we all go hand in hand, because both the positive and the negative spells come and go. From the start of the preseason to now nothing has changed, we know that the difficulty level is off the scale, that there are 18 teams that aspire to go up and that the four that descend will do so with 40 points that they’ll have taken away from someone else.”
