Muñiz: “The team has shown maturity, serenity and experience”

The Málaga CF coach highlights the good work of his players, despite conceding an early goal: “I remain with the fact the team knew how to overcome a good rival, particularly following the bad experience in the last match”, he affirmed.

Change of scheme

“We were looking for a little more calm in regard to ball possession and equal the numerical superiority that Lugo could have on certain occasions. We knew they circulate the ball very well on the inside. We achieved good pressure with Keidi and N’Diaye with a great pace of play, however, evidently, we then needed that help on the wing to match the rival’s numerical advantage. In the end, if you have two upfront players and have numerical superiority in midfield, you could have difficulty in the defensive aspect. In addition, on the attack it could help us a lot as Adrián created that superiority inside. When he’s near to the rival area he’s a very dangerous player, as he’s shown in the last two games”.

Lombán

“Lombán is a player who is working very well, who can bring many positives to the team. Throughout the season we need the participation of everyone. He delivers, works hard and is a great professional. When he plays, I have no doubt about his performance”.

Comeback

“The ideal is to always maintain a clean sheet. Things don’t always go your way in matches, not everything is perfect. Those situations must be improved. We must also recognise that the opponent performed well. I remain with the fact the team knew how to overcome a good rival, particularly following the bad experience in the last match. The team showed maturity, serenity and experience to know how to get out of a complicated situation. I value a great victory against a great team, and we made a great effort. I’m not focusing on the leadership, I’m happy that we’re winning. Being at the top on matchday 20 doesn’t give you any titles, it’s a very tough league, there are 20 matches to go”.

Seleznov

“Seleznov has to bring many good things to the team. He’s only just arrived, he’s got a lot of work to do to get up to the level of his teammates both physically and tactically, and from there he will grow. He’s extremely keen to do his bit. Now he needs to have peace of mind, calm and be taught what to do in each moment. He needs time.
