Muñiz: “The fans being there really makes the difference”

The Málaga CF coach is grateful for the support from the stands. “In the first few minutes of the second half, when we were close to the goal, they gave us the boost we needed to get it”.

Málaga - Cádiz

“Neither of the two teams had clear possession, we knew their strengths were speed and quick transitions. We try to make good transitions without any unnecessary losses in midfield. In the second half, both Juanpi and Dani Pacheco created danger and showed superiority, until the rival knew how to counteract that superiority. We were so close to a goal, and many times close to the opposing goal. In any action, like that of the goal, this closeness gives you the option to score”.

Goals

“Goals come unexpectedly, sometimes in your favour, other times not. Against Granada it was a rebound; these are occasions when many players accumulate inside the area and the goalkeeper can’t see the ball well. Which is why it’s important to be close to the opposing area. It was a good individual display by Harper, and there were many people inside the area to finish. Although the strikers didn’t score, their work is incredible. Anyone can score a goal, in the end Málaga CF took the lead which is what’s really important”.

Fans

“The fans’ support at home is essential. During tough times you draw strength from them. In the first few minutes of the second half, when we were close to the goal, they gave us the boost we needed to get it. It’s essential for us to keep them engaged. There are many League games left, many tight matches ahead, so the closer they are to us the better, as it’s what makes the difference between some teams and others”.

Reus

“It won’t condition anything. We expect Reus will carry on with complete normality. If something else happens, it will be faced in the best way possible. We very much regret the situation, for all the professionals and employees, and hope it is resolved and never happens again. This category doesn’t deserve it, it’s a very good category with a high standard. It’s a shame for all professionals that these things happen”.

Ricca

“He’s a very competitive player who gives everything for the team, which he’s shown previously, today and will continue to do so. He’s an example to look up to. The captain is usually selected due to seniority, but it’s not always the case. They must set an example, and all our captains do”.
