The defender is ending his time at the Blue and White club and won’t be part of the squad for the 2026/27 season.
The Sevilla-born centre-back joined Málaga CF in August 2025 from Real Racing Club de Santander to strengthen the left side of the central defence.
During his year as a Malaguista, Javi Montero made a total of 30 appearances across all competitions: 25 in LALIGA HYPERMOTION (23 as a starter, scoring one goal), one in the Copa del Rey, and four more in the promotion playoffs to LALIGA EA SPORTS.
His defensive contributions on the pitch and his presence in the dressing room have been highly valuable for the team, helping achieve the recent historic promotion to the First Division in the 2025/26 season.
