Monreal: "We need to forget about our defeat the other day”

Left winger Nacho Monreal, held a press conference this Wednesday morning, at the Ciudad de Málaga Stadium.

Statements from Monreal

Next match
“The team is looking forward to Monday’s game.  We want to put the last defeat behind us, and fight for the three points.  If we want to achieve our goals, we know we need to win.  Monday seems ages away, so we’re hoping the time goes quickly!  Focusing on us as a team, and earning the points on Monday’s home game is what we’re concentrating on.  There are still matches left to play to gain a further advantage before the end of the season, and I hope we can qualify for Europe”.

Last match
“We need to forget about our defeat the other day.  The team knows that no game can be won until it’s played.  We performed well, but our rival scored two goals in two set pieces.  We couldn’t get control of the ball after that, and we lost”.

Racing
“They’re in a difficult position, each match is like a final for them and they’re going to be in fighting spirit.  Racing will make it hard for us, it won’t be an easy match at all.  Therefore we need to maintain our concentration and play well, as we’ve seen that any team can defeat any team in this League”.

Fight for Europe
“Being in Champions isn’t guaranteed, nor whether we’ll get to Europe or anything.  It’s so tight in the League, that if a team loses three matches, they won’t make it.  We need to focus on each game and fight for the three points, which won’t be easy.  The more points we earn now, the further we’ll get.  The most important thing for us now is to focus on Monday’s match.

Personal plan
“I’m pleased with my performance, and the team is playing very good football.  We’ve got a positive dynamic, and trust the coach’s decisions, and really hope we finish the season like we did last year.  Eurocopa?  We first need to end the season well with Málaga, concentrate on the team and do the best we can, then we’ll see what happens.

Easter
“I saw a wonderful procession, and there was a fantastic atmosphere.  But I’m just concentrating on winning on Monday”.
