Statements from Monreal
I was in the reserve team this year, but always friendly with the first team players. This is such an important week for us, and Sunday’s match will be the most significant in Málaga’s history. The entire team is determined to win, so we can achieve our ultimate goal. We’re not nervous as such, just really eager to play the match. Just one game stands between us and Champions qualification, so we need to win these last three points and secure our fourth position in the League. Sporting are also desperate for victory, in order to avoid relegation, and will go out there and make it as difficult a match for us as possible. However we’re also very ambitious in our fight for Champions.
In the last few matches, we’ve been unlucky with regards to points. We know we need to win this match if we want to achieve our goal. However, the team is very positive, and we hope the referee performs well, as the more relaxed he is, the better.
Both teams have everything to play for. It’s been a long season, with good and bad moments, but we’re solely focusing on victory in Sunday’s game. Sporting also need to take three points from this match, which makes for a tough League final for both of us.
It’s been a really good year for me. I’ve made some really good friends, and have had the opportunity to play in several matches. Puyol’s injury? It’s really significant, as he’s one of the best players on the national team. It’s unfortunate, but the coach will decide who’ll be on the team, and I’m continuing to work hard to play the best football I possibly can – Eurocopa-.
We’re all so excited, and full of enthusiasm for Sunday’s match, which could see us achieve our Champions League dream. We know how much the fans would love to see us get to Champions, so we need to win this match for them too. Atlético achieved their goal yesterday, winning the Europa League final, and we have to achieve our goal on Sunday and qualify for Champions. It’s won’t be easy, but we’ll be fighting for the entire 90 minutes, to be able to celebrate victory with our fans.
