Monreal: "Monday’s game will be a special one for me”
Málaga’s left fullback, Monreal, held a press conference before the start of Friday morning’s training session in La Rosaleda.
(Going back home)" Monday’s game will be a special one for me, as I’m going back to the Reyno de Navarra stadium as a visitor. I’ve got a lot of colleagues and friends there, so I know I’ll have a great time. I gave it my all when I was there, and have a great relationship with the directors, my former team mates and fans”.
(Osasuna)" They play a very direct and intense game, and will be fighting for the ball all the time, to gain three points in the fight for European positions. But we’re in fourth place, and want to qualify for Champions, so we need to win. It’s going to be a difficult match. Like the majority of teams, Osasuna play a much more intense match at home, and have better preparation. They’re fully aware that three points from this match are needed to get to Europe. When I was with Osasuna, we were always fighting to avoid relegation, and now this season they have 46 points, and are playing really well. I think they’ve surprised us all a bit, but their achievement is through their own hard work”.
(Tough matches ahead)" By the end of the League, you have to play against every team. We’ve got five very difficult matches ahead of us, and we need to focus on every single point. The team needs to maintain total concentration to defeat Osasuna, keep our League place, and come away with the points from a direct rival”.
(Eurocopa)" I’d like to think I have the possibility of going, but it’s going to be tough. I wasn’t part of the previous team line-up unfortunately. However I’m still hopeful”.
