Monreal: “At home we have a good record”

The Malaguista left defender, Nacho Monreal, spoke to the media this Thursday in the Ciudad de Málaga press room.

Monreal’s statements:

MCF-Mallorca
“It’s a hugely important game.  Having let the points escape us in Granada, we’re even more obliged to get the three points at home against a rival who, if things go well, we have many different options. It’s necessary to get these points because we don’t want to stand still and they’re vital for us.  We can’t slip up and we’re playing at home against an opponent who could win.  Many teams come to our ground and they know our power and they would be satisfied with a draw.  We have to be clever and know that sooner or later we’ll get a goal and get the three points, but we know that we have a difficult rival and we have to go out 100 per cent to get the victory.”

Intensity and goal
“Intensity the team’s got – in the last few games there’s been a noticeable improvement.  You saw it in the match against Sevilla. If we went out with such intensity in every game things would be easier.  At home we have a good record but away we’re struggling.  In the last few games we had some very clear chances but we didn’t get a goal.  If you’re not all over the goal area, you’re not going to get points.  Also we’ve been unlucky that the approaches we did have didn’t go in.”

Joaquín and Ruud, fit again
“The more available people there are for the coach, the better it is.  The team’s level is increasing and this is going to be noticed. We’re all wanting to be available.”

Demichelis, a two game ban
“I’m quite surprised, it’s a move that was a little heated, it was a red, but it seems a excessive to me.”

Current affairs – Osasuna
“That’s something for the Club and Osasuna, and there’ll be a solution soon.  I’ve got no comment and I’m fully relaxed.”

Spain-Venezuela, in Málaga
“I always like to be on the list of called-up players for the national squad. It’s also a bonus that they’re playing in our ground, with our people, and I’d like to be there.  I’ve got do things properly and work hard.”

Line-up
“At the start it was a little difficult, Eliseu was at a spectacular level; then the coach gave me the opportunity, I think I responded well, now I’m enjoying the continuity and a good level and I’m trying to help the team.”

Few fouls
“It’s weird; it could be for the way of playing.  There are some matches that put you ahead and you have to stop the game with tactical fouls.  Every match and every moment defines what you should be doing.”
