Miguel Torres: “I believe in us and above all, the fans”

The second Malaguista captain held a press conference following this Tuesday’s training session: “If something characterises Málaga CF, it’s the ability for sacrifice and to overcome adversity”.

League break

“We would like it to be a week of competition, above all to prepare for the match against Leganés and clinch a victory, which is what we all want. It’s a week of international commitments, so we’ll make the most of it to undergo specific work”.

Work

“This anxiety we feel ahead of a match increases during a League break, and makes us a little more restless day to day as it’s a situation that directly influences us. We like to see the players coming to train early, after we finished the group session we continued in the gym. Each one of us has to be at their best in this situation in order to affront the matches”.

Message to the fans

“We wish to convey to fans that we have the same worries as they do. We’re not two different groups, we’re all moving in the same direction. The fans have been a very important factor for us, and have helped a great deal. I understand this isn’t a comfortable situation for any Málaga CF supporter. The only thing we can do to get out of it is to work hard and trust in the squad, it’s the only way out. It’s very early to give up; if something characterises Málaga CF it’s the ability for sacrifice and to overcome adversity. I don’t think now’s the time to give up, quite the opposite. I’m a positive person and I think these types of situations see you grow and develop, which I hope will happen soon”.

Recovery from inury

“Right now, beyond the individual, it’s about the sport. The team has had some casualties and the coach wanted to give me the chance to participate in a scheme of five defenders, in a position I felt comfortable in. As a result of Ricca’s injury, the initial approach to the game had to be altered, and the coach decided to bring on Juanpi to focus on a stronger attack as he thought we could win the match. Personally, I’m happy I’ve recovered from my operation. I’d like to thank the medical team, physios and everyone who’s been working with me in recent months. I’m now solely focused on helping the team, feeling important as I have done all these years, and hopefully I’ll have the chance to play many matches and we’ll achieve many victories”.

Earning points

“We need points to move closer to teams who are in front of us. I think we have a better team than many in the First Division, but that is shown on the pitch, by earning points and trusting in the team. I believe in the coaching team, the Club and above all, the fans. I hope we can turn this situation around as quickly as possible”.
