Míchel: “We know of the importance of this match”

The Málaga CF coach attends to the media in the press room, in the run-up to the match against Sevilla FC: “We must attack their weak spots and make the most of them”.

Sevilla FC

“We’re facing a team who in recent years has been a point of reference in Europe and Spain. They are a team who doesn’t care about coach and player changes as they continue to play with the same idea and ability. They’ve had a great start to the season and are a strong group. These are always special games and, of course, Nervión always adds greater importance to any match, which I think gives us a sufficient boost. We know of the importance of this match. I’m from Madrid, but I’m a football man and have always valued these types of situations”.

Stability

“I think last weekend’s result, and above all the sensation, makes the team feel more stable, which we’ve seen in training sessions. This allows us to go into this match against Sevilla in a good way”.

Peñaranda

“Peñaranda has been training well over the past 10 days, which is why he’s in the line-up. He’s a player who has many virtues, and this week has been the Peñaranda we’d hoped for”.

Weak points

“I believe we need to try to attack their weak spots and make the most of them. It’s more difficult when you’re playing against a team of their category and level, but that’s where we need to go for the match. Sevilla have won many games this season, in the League and Champions, but there have also been times during matches when their play has suffered, as their rivals have known how to affront the weaknesses which we all have”.

Rankings

“When I’m focusing on a match I don’t look at the League table, I look at the possibilities. I think, if my team plays at a good level, as they’ve shown during certain moments of play, it’ll be much harder to notice the difference in the rankings, and we’ll have many more possibilities than this statistic would maintain, in my personal view.”

Good gameplay

“I don’t think there’s too great a distance in the League table. As we know, this is a good time for Sevilla at the moment. We, above all, are in a poor situation in regard to points, but our gameplay isn’t too bad”.
