“If we had earned a point, it would have seemed like a game to match the opponent we played. I think we competed well throughout. We forced Oblak to intervene at certain times. The team performed well, they were competitive. When we had possession, we were a far better side. This is the path we need to try and follow. We know the result isn’t good, the situation isn’t great, but playing like this we’ll find our way sooner or later”.
Opportunities
"Competing and being at the level of Atlético de Madrid isn’t easy. They are a rival who manage you and know how to control the times. From minute 25, I think we were a lot looser with the ball, we had approaches and counter-attacks. The team generated a couple of occasions in the first half but came up against a solid Oblak, and in the final 15 minutes we also created some dangerous situations. I don’t think my team struggled in excess. Atleti have many variants, and despite retracting and dealing with the pressure, we did well. The result bothers me, not the work of my team”.
Rolón and Rolan
“Both were very good. Rolan is missing some physical work, but in 10 minutes he showed he’s a footballer. Rolón played well, he helps the team, and was able to maintain what we asked of him successfully - having a fixed position, providing exit to the game and always playing behind the ball, both in attack and defence. Physically, the pace for him is different, and he was a little tired. As such, with the result we had, we sought a distinct situation. We’re happy with him and with everyone”.
