Míchel: “Everyone has to deal with the calendar”

Blue and Whites’ coach, Míchel González held a press conference this afternoon at La Rosaleda’s press room. “We know of the importance of tomorrow’s match and want to get to a better position in the rankings”, he affirms.

Present

“The worst hasn’t happened, and in addition, the good thing is we’re learning to compete in this situation of maximum tension, which has seen the team improve. During the toughest times of the season, when the situation was really critical, that’s when the team started to live, within the possibility of living comfortably in this situation, and the team has shown a considerable improvement”.

Next rival

“Here nobody is saved, we need to compete every weekend as there are many open doors, and those who believe at this point in the season that their work is done, as we all know in this world, are wrong. A team without options, or who may seem to be on a losing streak like Betis, with the level of the players and coach, could bring problems to any opponent”.

Tight calendar

We know of the importance of tomorrow’s match and want to get to a better position in the rankings. We’re all trying to push forward, I said before the match in San Sebastián, there’s still a long way to go in this competition. Those of us at the bottom are very tight, and the pressure is felt by those at the top. We all have to deal with the calendar, it’s very close for everyone”.

Type of game against Betis

“They are a team that play well, with a similar gameplay to Real Sociedad in terms of approach. If you allow them to dominate the ball, you’ll face many difficulties as they know what to do with it. If you attack them and focus play in areas where they feel less comfortable, you can gain freedom to win the match, which is what we’ll try and do. We almost always try to do that, seek out the best moment, and against such good teams like Betis and Real Sociedad, I’d say we were brilliant”.

Diego Rolan

“We need to think about whether he could be part of the starting line-up or not, as he’s been undergoing specific training over the past few days. That said, the player is fine, he’s been part of group training and is doing great”.

Possible return of Sandro

“A footballer plays where he wants to play, and I believe Sandro wants to come to Málaga. From there on in everything is subjective and depends on situations and negotiations. Also, the person that has to tell me what’s going on has said he wants to play at Málaga”.
