Mel: “We have to find a solution”

The Blue and White coach held a press conference after losing to SD Eibar: “Maybe we'll have to make more changes or play another way, because what we're doing isn’t working for us,” he explained.

Pepe Mel held a press conference in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda and analysed today’s defeat: “My speech is over. To say that we deserved more… in the end people don't believe you. This Málaga doesn’t deserve to lose, but every mistake is punishing us excessively. Time plays against us, because of the anxiety, but in the end it’s about the result. We make our first mistake and concede a goal, it happened to us in Leganés, Oviedo… We have to lift a group of players, how can you tell them that they did well if you don't win,” he commented.

The next match is in four days, in Cartagonova against FC Cartagena: “Eibar were compact and well-ordered during today’s game. On Thursday we’re playing again, we need to look at our mistakes and keep our heads held high, as the next match is around the corner,” he affirmed.

The mood is key to the team's performance: “I'm worried about where their heads are at. It happened to us in Oviedo, it was difficult for me to lift them up at half-time; in Leganés the trip was tough I was thinking of letting them off now, but I don't know if it would go against us. They have to see that they are good players, but this is about winning,” the coach added.

The results still haven’t arrived, and the coach is seeking solutions: “I have to use the squad I have. Maybe we'll have to make more changes or play another way, because what we're doing isn’t working for us. What matters is we’re not winning so we need to find an alternative. Since I've been here the rivals haven't done any more than us, yet they win. This is the first time something like this has happened to me. When you work on an idea, then every week you have an exam and fail it, the talking means nothing,” he stated.

The solution can’t wait, of that the coach is clear: “When I leave here, I’m going to meet with my people and prepare for the match as from tomorrow. We have to find a solution. Being a coach means you have problems, and you have to find solutions. We have to score points, we can't go through more matches without winning any points,” he confirmed.

Lastly, Mel was sincere in regard to his feelings about the results: “It’s disappointing. We worked extremely hard yet didn’t reap any reward. We can’t lose the reality of the situation. I’m angry, we were determined to get the three points against Eibar, but came away with nothing,” he concluded.
