MCF’s Intellectual Disability Football School is born
Málaga Club de Fútbol, via its Foundation, has launched one of its most important social projects: The Escuela de Fútbol de Discapacidad Intelectual (Intellectual Disability Football School) (EDI) which will form part of LaLiga Genuine.
This mixed School, aims to standardise sports practice and convey values such as solidarity, companionship and overcoming adversity, amongst others.
Training at this School, which will be called Fundación Málaga CF EDI, will take place at the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol grounds every Thursday from 16:30 to 17:30. The first session is scheduled for Thursday 4th October.
VIPESA, Diputación Provincial de Málaga and Obra Social “la Caixa” are backing this project.
The birth of the Foundation’s School has the support of three entities that have decided in favour of sport as a standardising tool for everyone. VIPESA will be the principal sponsor, a Málaga-based company linked to the distribution of paint and materials, as well as specialists in the installation of sports flooring, and whose image will be displayed on the front of the home and away shirts. The Fundación Málaga CF EDI will also have the support of the Diputación Provincial de Málaga and Obra Social “la Caixa”, whose logos will be featured on the left sleeve and lower back of the shirts, respectively.
Coaching team
Fernando González, sports psychologist who last season was linked to Málaga CF’s first team, will be the coach-coordinator of the School. Rubén Cortés and Miguel Ángel Espinosa will undertake the physical preparation; José Luis Carballeda, the doctor who will monitor the health of the players; and Cristina Cano, the social volunteer coordinator who will watch over the team at all times.
