MCF-TV interviews Willy Caballero

Willy Caballero has been at Málaga for just over a year, after more than seven campaigns playing in Second Division club, Elche. MCF-TV recently caught-up with the Malaguista Spanish-Argentinean goalkeeper.

Willy Caballero’s statements:

Review of the first half of the season
“We were in a good position for several matches, we were privileged, but in this last stretch we need to improve.  I believe that we’re capable of playing better than any team in the First Division.  This is our goal, to play much better in the second round and finish in the top six on the table.  We won the first match of the second leg luckily.  As I said, if we want to improve in the second leg, we’ve got off to a good start.  We knew that there’d be difficult times, but I hope we’ve had the worst of it and can now start to move forward.  The group has always been very united, and this is what strengthens the team as a whole.”

Personal performance, competition and Kameni
“I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved, how I’ve played and defended on the pitch.  I’m very happy in that sense.  He’s training very well, I know him, we all do, from the Spanish League.  We’re starting to get to know him as a person now as well.  I’m pleased he’s here, and hope he can do all he can as a player in our team.”

A year in Malaga and at MCF
“A tremendous change.  An important step for me and my family.  The dimension of playing in the First Division is a whole lot nicer, I’m happy and I’m enthused about defending these colours.  The people and the climate help a lot, and I’m very at ease.  They bring me a lot of joy and it’s a lovely feeling and I’ll do all I can to cherish it and not lose it.”

Argentina national side
“We need to do everything we can to be able to play for our country.  I’d love to, it’s my dream.  We’re working and playing well towards our goal, making sure we do everything right.  I hope we’ll be able to play in our national teams again, to be given that chance to play for Argentina.”

The European dream
“I’d like to be the goalkeeper that sees Málaga in Europe, to make Club history.  It’s our dream to play for Málaga in Europe, it’s extremely important to us.”
