Joris Mathijsen played the full 90 minutes in Holland’s successful game against Finland (2-0) in which the current European runners-up blazed their way into Euro 2012. Martín Demichelis also played for his country, Argentina, in Bangladesh against Nigeria. The South Americans triumphed 3-0.
Santi Cazorla wasn’t called on by Vicente del Bosque to play in Spain’s Euro 2012 qualifier in Logroño against a weak Liechtenstein. The result was an outstanding 6-0 for ‘The Reds.’ The Asturias-born player watched from the sidelines as the reigning Euro champions secured their place in the European championship.
