To take into account
- Málaga, following Real Sociedad’s win in Valencia, need a victory to claim eighth place and equal their third best position in history in the League, as MCF.
- Team captain, Duda will close his twelfth season with Málaga CF, and should he play, will reach 299 games in the First Division with the Malaguistas.
- 10 goals. The best goal-scorers for Málaga and Las Palmas in the 2015/16 LaLiga, Charles and Jonathan Viera, have scored 10 goals each in 34 and 35 matches played respectively.
- Should he take part in the match, Valerón will retire from professional football at La Rosaleda. ‘El Flaco’, one of the great talents in Spanish football, has faced Málaga 16 times in the First Division, accumulating eight victories and seven draws. He was only defeated once, 26th May 2013, Málaga-Deportivo (3-1).
Historical data
- CD Málaga 2-1 UD Las Palmas, 1991/92 season. Took place on 27th October 1991 at Los Cármenes, Granada, corresponding to the 9th Second Division match. It was the second (and last) match in history that wasn’t played at La Rosaleda for CD Málaga as the local side. Málaga won with goals from Kirov (penalty) and Villa. The other ‘home’ match that didn’t take place at the Martiricos was against AD Almería, which wasn’t played in the end, in the 1979/80 season in the First Division.
- UD Las Palmas was the rival who CD Málaga competed against the most in the Copa del Rey, namely five qualifiers, as well as a short period of time between the 1969/70 and 1977/78 seasons. CD Málaga won two of these play-offs.
- The story of Agustín Perdomo. The player from the Canary Islands who underwent military service in Ceuta, played for Imperio de Ceuta and signed to Atlético de Marbella. In Marbella, CD Málaga showed interest in him in the 1965/66 season. Perdomo later became the only player in CD Málaga’s history to sign to the Club and not even train one day. He never played for UD Las Palmas, even though he was born in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
