Match preview: #CDCastellónMálaga

Málaga CF’s second consecutive away game in LaLiga SmartBank is against CD Castellón at Nou Castalia.

The Blue and Whites, with no points in the pot as yet, will face this rival that did win their first league match. The match is taking place on Saturday at 18:15 (GOL).

Murcia-born referee Rafael Sánchez López will be in charge of this match. He is debuting in the category, and this will be his first time officiating a LaLiga SmartBank match and indeed Málaga CF. It was Sánchez López who refereed the CD Castellón 1-0 UE Cornellà clash held at La Rosaleda which led to the ‘orellut’ side moving up to LaLiga SmartBank. José Antonio López Toca from Cantabria will head up the VAR.

  • In the five seasons MCF has competed in the silver division, on matchday 2 of the competition, the team obtained four victories and one draw.
  • The third time Málaga CF will face CD Castellón at Castalia. Both previous games ended in victory for the Malaguistas, by 0-1 in the 2006/07 season (goal from Jonatan Valle) and 2-3 in the 2007/08 season.

The last match between CD Castellón and Málaga CF took place on matchday 4 of the 07/08 campaign. The match, held on 16th September 2007, ended in a 2-3 win for the Malaguistas. The line-up selected by the then coach, Juan Ramón López Muñiz was the following: Goitia, Jesús Gámez, Hélder Rosario, Weligton, Rossato, Paulo Jorge (Cheli ’88), Antonio Hidalgo, Carpintero, Calleja (Eliseu ’50), Peragón (Silva ’74) and Baha. Peragón, no sooner had the match got underway, Baha in a rogue action and Antonio Hidalgo with magnificent definition, scored the Malaguista goals.
