Malagueño increase their lead even further (4-1)

The Malaguista reserve team secured a major home win, in the postponed 27th Third Division Group IX game against CD El Palo. This victory gives the boys a +14-point lead over their main followers; UD Almería ‘B’ and Antequera CF.

Atlético Malagueño achieved victory against CD El Palo to reinforce their group leadership to 71 points, 14 more than UD Almería ‘B’ and Antequera CF. The match, held at the Málaga Federation football ground, corresponds to the Third Division Group IX game that was previously postponed due to rainfall.

Both teams stepped on to the field of play with the clear intention of controlling possession. Ruano’s boys sought an early lead, but the rival defence put paid to their hopes. However, 15 minutes into play, the Blue and Whites went in front with a superb goal from Kuki Zalazar. Team captain, Mula assisted with a great ball from the left that the number ‘10’ converted, overcoming the rival keeper (1-0, minute 15).

Seven minutes later, Jack Harper increased the lead with a great goal in front of the target. The striker adjusted a shot from the corner of the area to touch the base of the post and into the back of the net (2-0, Min 22).

CD El Palo reacted after this goal and got on the scoreboard from the penalty spot. Falu Aranda scored from the 11-metre mark to make it 2-1 in minute 25. Four minutes later, the referee called another penalty, but in the opposite area. The visiting goalkeeper prevented Mula’s intention and sent the ball to a corner.

Wójcik scored a fantastic goal with precise definition in minute 44’, but the linesman called out the Malaguista for being offside and disallowed the goal. With the scoreboard showing 2-1, the referee blew the half-time whistle.

In the second half, both teams shared possession in midfield. Both attempted to approach the area with clarity, but the defenders prevented any dangerous situations.

Midway into the second half, the Blue and Whites stepped up their attack and besieged the El Palo area. Castillo made it 3-1 in the 71st minute, taking advantage of a small slip by the rival defence. The midfielder outwitted the keeper with a strong shot from the centre.

Following the goal, Malagueño controlled the rhythm of play. They maintained possession and continued to search for more goals in the attacking half. Wójcik sealed the final 4-1 result in minute 85 with a shot similar to that of Castillo, a powerful launch inside the area.

With this victory, the Malaguista reserve team increase the advantage to 14 points above their main followers, and are now preparing for the next match against Atarfe Industrial, taking place on Sunday at the same location.
