Josep Clotet’s boys were full of determination at the start of the match with their best performance coming soon after kick off, creating numerous goal opportunities and dominating play in midfield. Diego opened the scoring for Malagueño following a corner kick.
The visitors lost a certain degree of intensity following the goal, and Estepona began to take control of play. The home side looked set to equalise as the second half progressed, and a goal from Pibe put the score board level. Neither team was prepared to settle for a draw and both stepped up the attack. However, it was Estepona who got the glory in the 89th minute following an unfortunate own goal by Atlético Malagueño.
