Malagueño beat leader, U.Estepona, in a hard-fought match (1-0)

Atlético Malagueño have secured a victory this morning, Sunday 15th January, against the Third Division Group Nine leader, U. Estepona, thanks to a goal by Juanmi in minute 87 of the match.

The game, which took place in the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground, turned out to be a very equal one.  The first half was intense but with few goal chances, especially for the visitors.

The high level of both teams was on display throughout the match, meaning that the scoreboard remained unchanged until the last few minutes of the game when Juanfri shot the ball past the goalkeeper.  It was only at that point that Unión de Estepona pushed forward, posing a serious threat to Toni’s goal area, but the Malaguista defence stopped any equaliser.

At the end it was a minimal win for Atlético Malagueño, meaning they’re still maintaining their fight for promotion to the Second Division, something they could achieve if all goes to plan in their match against Maracena on Wednesday at the Federación Malagueña de Fútbol ground – the game is a match that had previously had to be rescheduled due to rain.
