Málaga CF Femenino awarded in Archidona

The Peña Malaguista de Archidona presented Antonio Contreras’ team with the ‘Malaguista of the Year’ award for the girls’ magnificent campaign that culminated in First Division promotion. The prize was 65 litres of oil.

The Peña Malaguista de Archidona honoured Málaga CF Femenino with the ‘Malaguista of the Year’ award for the brilliant season and subsequent promotion to the First Division. Players Encarni, Raquel and Alba represented the entire squad at the peña.

Although this is the first time that the recognition is given to a team and not a player, the reward was the same as in other occasions: the weight of the winner in oil. The one chosen to step on to the scales was goalkeeper, Alba, who obtained 65 litres of oil for the team, courtesy of Cooperativa Dcoop.

Málaga Femenino winning the ‘Malaguista of the Year’ award follows in the footsteps of players such as Recio, Juanpi, Kameni, Camacho and Willy Caballero, amongst others, and new this year is women’s football receiving the accolade. Encarni spoke to the Club media following the event and said she’s very proud because “for the first time the award is given to a female figure”. For his part, president of the peña, David Córdoba said the decision was taken “unanimously in the assembly”.

In addition, Málaga CF adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar headed to the Málaga locality to participate in the event. He made the most of the occasion to thank the Peña Malaguista de Archidona for all the support and, together with the players, presented the peña with a shirt signed by the entire team.
