The European Clubs Association (ECA) held its General Assembly this week, with Málaga CF occupying a place as an associate member. The ‘Malaguista’ Club was represented by corporate director general, Manuel Novo.
On this occasion, due to the uniqueness of the situation with the refugees at Europe’s borders, the Assembly agreed to seek the cooperation of its members who are taking part in the UEFA Champions League or European League, to donate €1 per ticket sold in forthcoming matches within both competitions. The amount raised will go to a non-governmental organisation who will ensure the aid reaches those in need.
In other matters, the Executive Committee announced the entry of 20 new members, whilst the 106 ordinary members re-elected Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as president for another two years. The development of a support and training programme for the clubs was also raised; The ECA Club Management Programme and the support of the European Union initiative, #BEACTIVE during the European Week of Sport (7th – 13th September), to allow the member clubs to use their platform to attract as many fans as possible to take part in the event.
