Amrabat, Tighadouini and Mastour trained together for the first time this week; three Moroccan players at the same time is unprecedented in Málaga CF’s history in the League competition.
Seven players have come to Málaga from Morocco in Blue and Whites’ history, and one name stands out from the rest: Abdallah Ben Barek. Born in Rabat, and following a period in Granada, he put his name to the ‘Malaguista’ team in 1958 as a footballer, coach, manager of grassroots football and he is currently a Club adviser.
Ben Barek was the first, and was followed by Hassan Fadil (1998/99), Nabil Baha (2007-10), Mounir El Hamdaoui (2013/14) and lastly, Nordim Amrabat (2013-), along with Adnane Tighadouini and Hachim Mastour this year.
Three Moroccan-born players at the one time in Málaga CF has never been seen before, and there’s only one other case in the League competition. It was in Deportivo de La Coruña from 1997-1999, when Moroccan players, Naybet, Bassir and Hadji were in the squad together.
