Málaga CF and UCAM, united in eLaLiga Santander

Málaga Club de Fútbol, with the collaboration of UCAM Esports, will be taking part in the new 2020/21 season of eLaLiga Santander.

The Blue and White entity has reached an agreement with UCAM Esports Club to participate in the fourth campaign of LaLiga’s official esports competition, with FIFA 21 as the flagship videogame and protagonist for another year.

For the Universidad Católica de Murcia, this collaboration agreement is a big step forward in bolstering its commitment to electronic sports. For a number of years, UCAM’s triple objective in terms of esports brings together teaching, research and competition. Present at the signing event were José Luis Mendoza and Samuel Mendoza, Director of Institutional Relations and Director of Infrastructure and Digital Development at UCAM respectively; accompanied by Carlos Arias and Ana Vera, head of the Business and General Services Department and the Institutional Relations Department of Málaga CF, respectively.

UCAM Esports will make its coach and players available to Málaga CF, including Pablo ‘Brutaker’ Naveira, a professional FIFA player.

2020/21 season

The eLaLiga Santander 20/21 season will have a new format, with eight months of competition, 20 matches per matchday and more than €300,000 in prizes in the tournament kicking off on 12th January 2021.

The first phase of the regular competition will come to an end on 10th March; between 3rd and 4th April the eLiga Santander Cup will take place; the second phase of the regular league will end on 21st April; and the league grand final will be held between 8th and 9th May.

LaLiga and Electronic Arts organise the official EA SPORTS FIFA 21 competition with the teams from LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank, which is gaining momentum in Spain every year.

Fans can follow the competition on the official LaLiga channels via Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch, also by using the hashtag #eLaLigaSantander, as well as on LaLigaSportsTV and dial 58 of Movistar+.
