Luis stays!

The player will continue on with Málaga Club Fútbol following an agreement reached with the Blue and White entity. His new contract, with a professional registration, extends until the 21/22 season.

José Luis Muñoz León (Málaga, 1997) arrived at the Club in 2010 after being part of other clubs in the province including CD 26 de Febrero, Puerto Malagueño Guimbarda Iberia and UD La Mosca. The central defender converted to a defensive pivot and moved up the MCF Academy from infantil to juvenil, where he won the Copa de Campeones de España (2015/16) with the División de Honor under current coach, Sergio Pellicer.

An international within Spain’s youth ranks, Luis’ progression was unstoppable. At just 19 years of age, he debuted with the first team in the First Division, at the Camp Nou against FC Barcelona (0-0), whilst consolidating his place within Atlético Malagueño with whom he won the league title in Group IX of the Third Division (2016/17), staying one step away from promotion.

Later, Luis Muñoz gained experience and matches in the Second Division in the ranks of CD Lugo and Córdoba CF (2017-19). Last season, on his return to Málaga CF, he played an important role thanks to his superb quality in the wide area. A regular in the starting line-up, he has surpassed 2,000 minutes of play in LaLiga SmartBank (26 matches played) and showed his commitment by extending his association with the Club beyond 30th June until the end of the 19/20 season.

Malagueño, Malaguista, young and more eager than ever to continue winning at home, the Club’s efforts and Luis’ enthusiasm combine to the benefit of the present and above all the future, as a great active symbol of the fruitful Malaguista youth ranks.
