José Luis Muñoz León (Málaga, 23/02/1997), whose contract was coming to an end at the end of this 21/22 season, has reached an agreement with the Club and will remain linked to Málaga CF for three more years, until the end of the 24/25 campaign.
Luis, who renounced his fees at the end of the 19/20 season, renewing with the Club in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, has already proved his great commitment and responsibility towards the Blue and White colours.
Raised in The MCF Academy, he is one of the symbols of the Malaguista youth ranks and an example to follow for his perseverance in achieving his dream of reaching the first team. In terms of youth football, he is part of a generation that won the XXII Copa de Campeones Juvenil in Vera, Almería in 2015/16, the second time MCF won the title.
As captain of the first team, his current determination is clear: to successfully recover from the cruciate ligament injury to his left knee in this final stretch of the 21/22 season. The positive sensations have recently allowed him to start training on the pitch, complementing it with specific treatment in the gym.
About to turn 25, Luis Muñoz's career at Málaga CF began at Camp Nou, on 19th November 2016, debuting against FC Barcelona with a well-deserved draw (0-0) in the First Division. His stats as a Blue and White player include 5 games in LaLiga Santander, 62 in LaLiga SmartBank (6 goals) and 2 more in the Copa del Rey.
