Malaguista president, Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani accompanied Luis Hernández during his presentation, in which he wore his new jersey, bearing the number 24, and the footballing name of ‘Luis H’. Sports director, Francesc Arnau was also in attendance, and refers to the latest Blue and Whites’ signing: “We must evaluate the duration of the contract, three and a half years, and the fact that he’s a Spanish player who knows LaLiga. He’s already getting to know the Club and will bring performance in the short-term, but in the long-term we hope he’ll be a standout central defender for the Club”.

(Grateful and happy) “I wanted to thank the Club for the immense effort made. They have shown great confidence in me, particularly Arnau, who has been working non-stop every day. The important thing is that yesterday I was able to train, and I’m here, happy and hope to return the confidence the Club has shown in me”.
(Prepared and ambitious) “I’m ready to play should the coach decide. I’m here to earn points, contribute to the group, try to win and meet the objectives. I shared many years with Jony in Gijón, and I also know some of my other teammates. The group is magnificent, young, ambitious and I hope to add to the team”.
(Central defence) “I know where I am, the Club I’ve come to and the responsibility I have. I want to be available from minute one, live in the present, which is the match against Osasuna where we need to win the three points. I’m a central defender. I’ve played matches as a winger, but where I feel most comfortable and where I perform better is in central defence”.
(Premier League) “The experience was great as I was competing in a wonderful competition, and also took part in the European Cup in various games. However, I didn’t have the desired continuity, so when Arnau called me I did my best to come here. I hope to be here for many years and enjoy the Club”.
(Málaga CF) “A great Club, historic. I remember Málaga taking part in European competition, which is something I hope we can repeat. It is an historic First Division Club, on an ascending line which we hope will be consolidated. I’m here and I want to be here”.
