Lugano the only international ‘Malaguista’ to play for his country yesterday

Málaga CF’s Diego Lugano was the only Blue and Whites’ player to take part in an international match yesterday.

Uruguayan-born Lugano played for the entire match yesterday, in which Uruguay were defeated 2-0 by Chile, in the south American teams’ knock-out stage of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers.  His Málaga CF teammate, Seba Fernández, didn’t get a chance to play for Uruguay, Isco didn’t take part in Spain’s victory against France, nor did Portuguese-born Antunes, in their match against Azerbaijan.
