La Rosaleda stadium was inaugurated 75 years ago today
On 14th September 1941, La Rosaleda was inaugurated with the CD Málaga-Sevilla FC match, which ended in a 3-2 win for the Blue and Whites.
Excitement and enthusiasm marked the celebratory day, with the inaugural match kicking off at 5 p.m. This followed a ceremony of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – in the infirmary of the new stadium – by the Club chaplain and priest of San Felipe, Luis Vera, who blessed La Rosaleda stadium. More than half a million pesetas was invested into the home of football in Málaga, replacing the previous ground, Baños del Carmen.
