Last Friday, in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda stadium, the presentation of one of the major events for the Association of Former Málaga Players was held, the final phase of the Veterans’ Liga FEAV.
In April last year, the Forever team sang the victory song in Alameda (Málaga) at a charity event organised by the Malaguista association, and this year will be doing the same, in collaboration with the Town Hall of the Sevilla municipality of La Roda de Andalucía.
This Saturday 13th, the municipal ground at La Roda de Andalucía will host a marathon day of football, kicking off at 09:00 and ending at 20:45. The event is raising funds for charity, as for a €2 donation, fans can enjoy great veterans’ football and help social groups in La Roda.
Málaga CF, Diputación Provincial de Málaga and Obra Social ‘la Caixa’, amongst others, sponsor this event, which featured Málaga Forever players at the presentation (‘Koke’ Contreras, Manolo Gaspar, Juanito and Raúl Iznata), as well as Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar and Basti, from the MCF Foundation’s Social Department.
Calendar and groups
A total of 13 teams will be participating, divided into four groups, with the aim of winning to compete in the national veterans’ championships, the reigning title-holder being Málaga CF Forever. Like last season, the competition will be held in Oliva (Valencia) in May.
The draw for the final phase of the FEAFV (South) revealed these groups:
- GROUP A: Córdoba CF, Real Betis Balompié and Fuengirola
- GROUP B: RC Recreativo de Huelva, Vázquez Cultural and Motril
- GROUP C: Ejido, Xerez and MÁLAGA CF FOREVER
- GROUP D: Cádiz CF, RB Linense, Marbésula and Estepona
