The Nerja Cave, setting for Málaga CF's official photo
On Tuesday 3rd December, Málaga CF travelled to the Nerja Cave to capture the official 2024-2025 photo in an unparalleled setting.
Far from being just a tradition, Málaga CF's official photo has become a way to bring the club closer to every corner of the province. This season, the Nerja Cave, an official sponsor featured on the prematch jersey, was chosen as the setting to capture the players and coaching staff in an image that symbolises the team's unity and connection to our homeland.
In this natural and culturally unique setting, known as the “Natural Cathedral of the Costa del Sol,” Tuesday 3rd December turned out to be much more than a simple photoshoot. After posing for the camera, the team enjoyed a guided tour of the cave, where they explored its remarkable geological formations that have earned it the designation of a Cultural Heritage Site. They also learned more about its rich history, shaped by archaeological remains and prehistoric cave paintings dating back thousands of years.
The group then enjoyed a meal, and to conclude the day, they visited the Balcón de Europa, one of the most iconic viewpoints on the Costa del Sol, where they took in the breathtaking views.
Several representatives from the Fundación Pública de Servicios Cueva de Nerja, (FPSCN) attended the event, including its president and government subdelegate, Javier Salas; the vice president of the Foundation and mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo; the Foundation’s manager, José María Domínguez; and provincial deputy and Foundation board member, Sandra Extremera.
Representing Málaga CF were José María Muñoz, the club's judicial administrator; Kike Pérez, general manager; and Loren Juarros, sporting director.
This event, beyond being an opportunity to foster camaraderie within the team, highlights the club's commitment to promoting the province and its heritage. The Nerja Cave provided the perfect setting to further strengthen the bond between the team and Malaguistas.
