Málaga CF, headed up by Sergio Pellicer, is in Group A and will come up against Austrian side, SK Rapid Wien (16/6 – 7:45 p.m.); Turkey’s Galatasaray SK (17/6 – 5 p.m.); and Argentina’s Boca Juniors (18/6 – 5 p.m.) In Group B, Slovakia’s SK Slovan Bratislava; Brazil’s Cruzeiro; Uruguay’s Club Nacional de Fútbol; and Italy’s Bologna are competing.
The Franz Josef Cup takes place in two locations; in Neusiedl am See, Austria, where Málaga will be competing; and Senec in Slovakia. In this tournament, the group stage matches will be reduced in time to two halves of 35 minutes, whilst the semi-finals and final will last the usual 90 minutes. The two top teams from each group will clash in the semi-finals on Saturday 20th, hoping for a place in Sunday’s final.
