Atlético Malagueño were victorious away to Español del Alquián by 0-3 at the weekend, gaining two points more than the group leaders did. The Atlético Málaga girls lost by 3-1 to Granada and currently sit in 5th place in the table.
It was a bittersweet weekend for the academy. Atlético Malagueño defeated Español del Alquián by 0-3 to remain just one point behind Vélez CF, who drew at home against Mancha Real. Ruano’s boys defeated an intense Español, who ended the match with two people sent off, one of whom was in the coaching team. Two amazing goals from free kicks by Ontiveros, both from the same position, and a third from Mula in the 90th minute secured the three points for the reserve team on their return from Almería. This win allows them to move closer to the first-placed rival in their quest to regain the top spot of Third Division Group 9.
On a negative note, Manuel Hernández’s girls were unable to defeat Granada and lost by 3-1. The locals maintained the pressure on the rival in midfield, barely giving the ‘Malaguistas’ a chance. Following the first two goals by Granada, the Blue and Whites got on the score board with a penalty. However just when a draw looked on the cards, Granada scored a third goal in minute 89. This defeat puts Atlético Málaga down to 5th place as they prepare for their next game against Algaidas.
