La Academia finishes in ninth place in ‘Isla de Guadalupe’ Tournament

Málaga CF’s first year ‘Cadetes’ took part in the international competition held in the French Antilles, where they were knocked out in the group stage to finish in ninth place.

Alberto Párraga’s boys made their debut in this year’s tournament with a 0-0 draw against Grand Terre Nord, lost by 2-1 to French side, Caen, and were then defeated by last year’s winner, Guadalupe, by 3-0.
 
Despite not reaching the final stage of the competition, the ‘Malaguistas’ showed impressive game play against much older, physically stronger teams.  In consolation matches against Basse Terre Nord and Basse Terre Sud, the Blue and Whites won by 1-0 to finish in a respectable ninth place.
 
Paris Saint Germain were this year’s tournament winners, defeating Borussia Dortmund in the final.
