Koné: “Reaching the Africa Cup semi-finals is an achievement”

The Málaga CF defender spoke to LaLiga Santander media after qualifying to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup: “What awaits us now is something big. The aim is to get to the final”.

Qualification to the #CAN2017 semi-final

“The spirit of the team is great. Not everyone has the chance to play in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup. We defeated Tunisia and now we’re in the semi-final. I think it’s an achievement. Firstly, we’re going to enjoy it, then we’ll focus on recovering and preparing to continue on in the competition. Everything that is happening to us is a reward”.

Reaching the final

“What awaits us now is something big. The aim is to get to the final. We got through the first stages, that’s done. We won four matches. Now what counts is reaching the final. That’s our attitude”.

Confidence

“Yes, we trust in ourselves, as in order to play football, the first thing you have to have is confidence. We’re working on our technique and playing as a group. By playing and working together, we have more confidence in us as a team”.

Málaga CF

“Although I’m currently representing my country in the Africa Cup, I’m also thinking about Málaga CF. We have got some tough games coming up, but we must all make an effort. I’ll return fit and ready to contribute all I can to the team, and work towards fulfilling our objectives”.

Second captain of Burkina Faso

Adama Guira, Burkina Faso player: “Bakary is our team’s second captain. He’s great and we’re all very happy with him. He’s new in Spain and needs time to show that he’s a great player”.
