Kilometre 7: A signature team

Málaga CF obtained against Rayo Majadahonda a victory that condensed many of the automations Muñiz has implemented in an almost perfect start to the season.

These are some of the stand out highlights of Málaga CF’s 1-0 win against CF Rayo Majadahonda, on LaLiga 1|2|3 matchday 7 held last Sunday at Martiricos:

La Rosaleda Fortress

Málaga CF is the strongest team in the competition at home. Counting the number of games (4) by the number of victories (4) to accumulate 12 out of a possible 12 points. The team has amassed 360 minutes in the league without conceding a goal this season, making an excellent return on their 6 goals in favour. A team that is effective in defence and that maximises its attacking resources. A perfectly oiled machine.

Goal ‘made in’ The Academy

From Alameda to Fuengirola. Iván Rodríguez assists and Jack Harper slams into the back of the net. A habitual reserve team connection transferred from Malagueño to the first team. Iván played his first league match at home in the starting line-up, in the Second Division, debuting with an assist. And Jack, who scored his first goal at Martiricos wearing the Blue and White shirt, has earned the team six points with his two goals (the 0-1 in Almería was also his work).

The angel of Munir

A superb save prevented the partial 2-0 on matchday 1 in Lugo, giving the team time to breathe and go on to win the game (1-2). On matchday 3, in Almería, another key save impeded the local side equalising in stoppage time, and the Blue and Whites won 0-1. To complete the trilogy of decisive Munir interventions, in the final stage of the last home game against CF Rayo, he made a sensational clearance to safeguard the 1-0 on the scoreboard.

A renewed right-wing

In respect of the last match in Las Palmas, there were two new features to Muñiz’s starting-11. The absence of Cifuentes due to injury led to the entrance of Iván on the right wing, whilst Juanpi returned to the starting line-up in place of Dani Pacheco. The defender, who has had some discomfort to the right knee, more than fulfilled as ‘2’. The Venezuelan, as well as his unquestionable technical quality, also brought his level of defence to the team and was applauded by the fans when he was substituted.

Ricca and Muñiz, stand out numbers

#MálagaRayoMajadahonda, from a statistics aspect, was relevant for the captain and coach of the first team. The Uruguayan defender, a regular fixture in the line-up this season, reached 50 official matches as a Malaguista player. Meanwhile the Asturian coach only has Joaquín Peiró ahead of him in the total number of games as MCF coach. Muñiz accumulates 131 whilst the unforgettable Madrid-born coach reached 224.
