Kilometre 25: What a shame about those two goals…

The third consecutive draw for a Málaga CF who against UD Las Palmas scored two goals that were disallowed by the referee, in the first half, that could have changed the fate of a game that ended with a 0-0 result.

There were a number of highlights from #MálagaLasPalmas that we’ve condensed here in our particular kilometre:

Two actions that mark a result

Understanding the difficulty of making a decision in tenths of a second for a referee trio, who in the silver division does not have the help of VAR, Málaga saw how two balls that entered the rival goal were disallowed. Keidi’s goal, due to a previous action in which an offside was called on a ‘line’ position; and Adrián’s, following a Keidi corner during which the curve of the ball went outside the line. What a shame.

Dazzling debut from Alejo

A sensational debut from Iván Alejo in front of his new fans. The winger from Valladolid celebrated his birthday whilst debuting the Blue and White shirt at a very high level, leading to him being named MVP by an overwhelming majority. Fast, powerful, active, destabilising on the wing and toxic in set pieces. A new signing from the winter transfer window who promises to bring great football to La Rosaleda.

Strong in defence, even with a man down

Another match in which the rival didn’t score a goal against Málaga CF in LaLiga 1|2|3. Munir hardly had any work to do and the defensive structure, in particular a superb Diego González, prevented Las Palmas from generating any clear opportunities. Not even Keidi’s red card (59’), although visitor Deivid was also sent off soon after (72’), led to the rival netting a goal against the compact Blue and Whites, based on very close and hard-working lines.

Pau plays it all

Number 25! The young central defender continues to accumulate minutes and improves with every match. A total of 25 games on the run in the starting line-up, not missing an official minute in the league competition as an indisputable part of Muñiz’s 11. The only player on the team who together with Pau has played all matches in the competition so far, Blanco Leschuk, was shown the yellow card that carries suspension. Should he play in Majadahonda, the number ‘5’ will be unique.

Always in the running

It depends on how you look at it, but in a competition that stands out for its equality, it’s noteworthy that Málaga hasn’t left the top 5 in the standings after 25 games. In direct promotion positions or close to the top two spots, MCF is the team to have conceded the second fewest goals in the league, won the second highest number of points at home, and won the fifth highest number of points from away fixtures. Since the setback against Reus, there are now five matches on the bounce without defeat. Maintaining this competitive level allows us to dream big for the end of the season.
