Kameni reaches 300 LaLiga matches

Málaga CF goalkeeper, Carlos Kameni played his 300th official First Division match at Riazor against Deportivo, but unfortunately sustained injury.

The Cameroonian-born keeper, who was injured in minute 37 of the Deportivo 3-3 Málaga match, and was substituted by Ochoa, reached his 300th match in the elite, between two teams in the Spanish League: RCD Espanyol (2004-2012) and Málaga CF (since 2012-13).

At 32 years old, Kameni has accumulated 300 matches in the First Division (26,799 minutes of play), 222 of which were with Espanyol, and 78 with Málaga.  Of these 78 games with the Malaguistas, 66 have been consecutive – 65 complete games – between last season (38) and this current season (28).  The African keeper therefore has played the second highest number of First Division matches on the team after Portuguese-born Duda (323 games in total, 295 with MCF and 28 with Sevilla).

Coincidentally, Carlos Kameni’s LaLiga debut with RCD Espanyol was against Deportivo, in the Espanyol 1-1 Deportivo de La Coruña clash (28/08/2004).  His League debut and first victory with Málaga CF was in the Espanyol 1-2 Málaga match (25/03/2012).  Kameni has also secured a round number of wins during his First Division career: 100 victories (74 with RCD Espanyol and 26 with Málaga CF).
