The Málaga CF keeper is the foreign goalkeeper who has played the most First Division matches (329), surpassing Leo Franco. In addition, he is 20th in the historical ranking of LaLiga.
Carlos Idriss Kameni has etched his name on the LaLiga walk of fame. Few goalkeepers can boast of spending 13 consecutive seasons in the best league in the world. Nearly 30,000 minutes on some of the most memorable nights against the toughest rivals in the competition, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, amongst others.
A total of 329 matches in goal make Kameni the foreign goalkeeper with the most First Division matches under his belt. He kicked off his career in Spain with RCD Espanyol, where he accumulated 222 official matches in LaLiga over seven and a half seasons, before signing to Málaga CF. However, it was with the Malaguista squad where he beat the record of a foreign goalkeeper in LaLiga, with another 107 games.
The Malaguista keeper therefore surpasses Argentine goalkeeper, Leo Franco (328), who held on to the top spot on the podium up until last weekend. Furthermore, Kameni occupies 20th place in the historic ranking of goalkeepers who have taken part in the highest number of First Division games, with Andoni Zubizarreta leading the way.
