Julio, here until June 2022

The striker extends his contract with the Club for another season and will continue to accumulate experience until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Julio Martínez Cortés (02/11/2000 - Requena, Valencia) is a dynamic striker who moves through all profiles on the attack. Having arrived at Málaga CF at ‘juvenil’ age in 18/19, his contract now extends to the end of next season, 2021/22.

In his first year, with the Juvenil A, he played 30 games and scored 11 goals. In his second season he moved to Atlético Malagueño, scoring 14 goals in 26 matches, which led to him making his first team debut on 15th December 2019 against UD Extremadura at the Francisco de la Hera Stadium. This was one of the two LaLiga SmartBank matches he was part of that year, as well as a Copa del Rey clash, to total three.

In his third season with the Blue and Whites, this current 2020/21 campaign, he is part of the first team’s day-to-day, has played four matches with the reserve team scoring one goal, and eight under the orders of Sergio Pellicer – seven in the Second Division and one in the Copa del Rey.

The paths of Julio and Málaga CF will continue to unite for another season, ensuring The Academy has a prominent position in the planning of the first team.

Best of luck, Julio

Renewal

“I’m thrilled to renew for another year as this is a Club that has given me everything and I hope to return that confidence”.

Progression

“The first year with the reserve team was good on an individual level. Víctor Sánchez del Amo called me up to the first team and I made my debut. I’ve been with them since Pellicer came up. He has great confidence in us, we’re here to help the first team. This is a club that trust in its youth teams, and it shows”.

Long term

“My goal is to stay here for many years and be able to make that leap to a place in the starting-11 with the fist team and score goals. That’s my dream and what I’m working towards. Every day I think about scoring a goal, at La Rosaleda and away from home, and I’m working to achieve it”.
