Juanmi and Spain’s Under-19’s defeated France on penalties in the semi-final of the European Championship

The Málaga striker was a substitute in the semi-final of the Under-19’s European Championship, in which Spain defeated France in an agonising penalty shoot-out. Greece, who beat England by 2-1, is Spain’s rival in the final.

France was a tough opponent for Spain.  They were first on the score board in the 11th minute, with a goal from Umtiti.  Spain fought back with goals from Deulofeu and Alcácer, but France equalised (another goal by Umtiti).  ‘La Rojita’ were a goal ahead in extra time, thank to a great shot by Barcelona-born Deulofeu, but the French again levelled the scores with a goal from Pogba.  Thanks to an impressive display by goalkeeper Kepa, Spain defeated France in the penalty shoot-out.
