Juanma and Calatayud at the helm of MCFF

Juanma Gómez and Juan Calatayud take the reins of Málaga CF Femenino this 2022/23 season as the new coaching duo, following Nacho Pérez’s recent move to become Málaga CF’s assistant coach.

Juan Manuel Gómez Sánchez (Don Benito, Badajoz, 1981) will serve as the first coach of the women's team. He was a homegrown Blue and White player for several seasons and an important part of the historic Málaga B team that rose to the Second Division in the 02/03 season. He accumulated more than 300 matches between the First and Second Divisions and the Copa del Rey, as well as three promotions to the elite within the ranks of Levante UD, Real Betis Balompié and Villarreal CF.

As a coach, Juanma has been Nacho Pérez Santamaría’s right hand man in recent years. In the MCF youth ranks with Juvenil ‘B’ in Liga Nacional and the Juvenil ‘A’ team in División de Honor; and with Antequera CF in the 21/22 campaign in 2ª RFEF. And of course, at the start of this season with Málaga Femenino.

Juan Jesús Calatayud Sánchez (Antequera, Málaga, 1979) is MCFF’s new assistant coach. Like Juanma, he trained in the Málaga CF youth ranks, and they shared a dressing room in the aforementioned promotion from 'B' to the silver division in 2003. An elite goalkeeper in Spanish professional football for a decade who, as well as Málaga CF, played in clubs such as Getafe CF, Real Racing Club de Santander, Hércules CF and RCD Mallorca.

He was part of Nacho and Juanma’s team, as a goalkeeper coach, in the Juvenil 'A' in Division of Honor, a League champion and semi-finalist in the Copa de Campeones (20/21). In addition, he also accompanied his inseparable Juanma and Nacho as goalkeeper coach at Antequera CF (21/22).

Following the departure of Nacho Pérez, the coaching team was restructured with Juanma as coach and Calatayud as assistant coach, Fabio Rodríguez is continuing as physical trainer and Paco Ruiz as goalkeeper coach, plus Ana Madrid (physiotherapist) and Gloria Florido (delegate).

Málaga CF Femenino rearms with this Forever duo that will make their official debut this Saturday 1st October against Madrid CFF (20:15, Francisco Romero) corresponding to matchday 3 of Grupo Sur in the Segunda Federación.
