José Herrera: “Reflection, construction and learning”

The Málaga CF Femenino coach analysed the 0-2 defeat by Granada CF Femenino on matchday 22 of Reto Iberdrola: “Granada were superior to Málaga in the first half and Málaga were superior in the second half. We must congratulate them”.

Match analysis

“We’d prepared the week tactically and were clear on Granada’s automatisms and characteristics and the potential of their players. My discontent with my players was because in the first half, playing at home, we didn’t know how to overcome that pressure we’ve been working on all week, and Granada executed their plans to perfection. I would like to congratulate Granada as they have a good team and they show it. We’re in the middle of a learning process, we’ve made many changes, but there are still a lot of players who lack self-confidence. It’s a process of learning, construction and time. Granada were superior to Málaga in the first half and Málaga were superior in the second half.”

Good second half

“Keeping Granada back in their own half throughout the second half is certainly a positive. Now we’re facing another break this week. The Federation calls a number of league breaks during the season, we’re still not sure why, but it serves to help us to continue correcting our mistakes”.

Message to fans

“The Málaga Femenino fans, in the Second Division, fifth against second…Women’s football in Andalucía should be celebrating. Today was a true football fiesta, we lost because Granada were superior in the first half, but now it’s time for reflection, construction and learning”.
