José Alberto: “We must keep our feet on the ground”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference at the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda ahead of the trip to Ponferrada: “The team is training very well, this is the line we must follow.”

José Alberto López underwent a press conference ahead of the upcoming league game, the day before the team heads to León to face SD Ponferradina on matchday 6 of LaLiga SmartBank.

The coach said about the rival: “Ponferradina are not a revelation. They’ve been doing things very well for many seasons and this campaign I think they’ve taken another step in forming the squad. They have many more resources than in other seasons and that’s why they’re in second position, having had a spectacular start,” he analysed.

When asked about the virtues of the home team, he added: “I think Ponferradina are a very recognisable, reliable, solid and intense team. In addition, they have a decisive player in the category like Yuri, who at 39 continues to score lots of goals. They’re a patient team, they know how to take advantage of their moment and make the most of any mistakes made by the rival and set pieces. They have very clear ideas and are very practical, they do things very well.”

In regard to the Blue and White squad, the coach highlighted the attitude and commitment of all the players: “The team is training very well, with incredible commitment and effort. Those who aren’t playing are working to change their situation and they push those who are. This the line we must follow.”

Finally, he made reference to the compliments the team receives about their game, to which the coach answered: “I keep out of everything that’s said, but if there are compliments and good words, it’s because the team is doing well. It’s always important to generate excitement. We have to keep our feet on the ground and focus on our work. That is what will determine where we will be at the end of the season, hard work every day. We can’t allow compliments to confuse us or criticise us. We have to be stable and a balanced team, in victory and in defeat,” he added.
