The Malaguista coach held a press conference following #MálagaIbiza. “The result is incredibly harsh; we must apologise to the fans,” he stated.
Malaguista coach, José Alberto spoke to the media after #MálagaIbiza in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda.
Firstly, he said “the result is incredibly harsh.” Moving on to the match analysis, he added: “Up until the 0-2 we did many things well. From then on, I was angry at what I was seeing, it cost us, it was as though we started to give up and weren’t doing things right. We recovered a lot of balls close to the rival area, but we lacked that determination, that pause, finesse and calm to make the last pass and score goals. Barely doing anything Ibiza went 0-1 up. They fought until the end. Even leading 0-3, 0-4 and 0-5 they continued to make an effort.”
José Alberto continued his press conference by still “believing in the team, in the work we do, but we have to improve. We must be self-critical and aware that we aren’t doing enough, we need to give more and achieve the required consistency to reach our objectives at the end of the season,” he said.
The Malaguista coach commented: “We can never give up during matches. It’s also due to the young team we have. We must show more maturity, be more competitive and fight for every game until the end. We didn’t do that tonight.”
“Of course, we must apologise to the fans, they don’t want to come here and watch their team lose,” José Alberto said to the Málaga supporters.
The Blue and White coach went on to add that the “work today is psychological” and that this situation can be turned around with “two good results, two straight victories, which is what the team needs to really take off.” José Alberto is clear that “this is a difficult day to be positive,” ending that he has “no doubt that we’ll do it; we have a good team and are doing a good job.”
