José Alberto: “I wish CD Mirandés all the best, just not in our two matches”

The Malaguista coach talks about the fans’ fundamental return to La Rosaleda. “We play for our fans and it’s important that we fill those 8,000 seats, we’re going to need them to get ahead,” he said.

José Alberto discussed LaLiga SmartBank before the Blue and Whites’ debut this 21/22 season. “The League will be extremely close, packed full of tough, intense matches. We want a highly competitive, balanced team”, said the Asturian coach.

Ahead of Monday’s game against CD Mirandés, marking the team’s season debut, the Malaguista coach is confident in his planning. “The style and identity of the team are non-negotiable. We’ve been clear about the team for a number of days and we hope to select the best starting-11 we can. We’re convinced that we’ll play a good game”.

José Alberto also spoke about the rival, who he coached last season: “Mirandés are going to be similar to last season, a daring team. We need to be brave, without fear of anyone and go all out in every game as if it were a final”.

Before the return of the fans to La Rosaleda, the coach is excited about seeing people back at the stadium. “The other day we saw shirts around the stadium, which already makes it feel like another competition. We play for our fans and it’s important that we fill those 8,000 seats, we’re going to need them to get ahead”, he stated.

In addition, he also gave his opinion on the organisation of other international competitions, relying on the criteria of the professionals, but is keen to see a greater number of fans in the upcoming matches. “Stadiums in England, France and Germany are full. I’m no expert, but if there’s limited capacity it’s for a reason. Yet we hope in the upcoming games everyone will be able to come. We see concert venues and bullrings full to capacity, I don't understand that certain venues are full, and others aren’t within the same community”, said José Alberto before the assembled media in the Juan Cortés press room at La Rosaleda Stadium.
