Left-winger, Jony Rodríguez held a press conference this afternoon at La Rosaleda’s press room: “At home we always need to try and claim the three points”, says the Malaguista number ‘21’.
Special match
“Coming up against my former teammates, many of whom are my friends, makes for a special match, but also a normal one. There are three points in play, which we want to remain at home, in order to go to the League break calmly and with good sensations. We’ll face a very difficult rival, who have come from a poor streak. However, these streaks come to an end at some point, and we hope Sporting’s doesn’t happen at Málaga. That said, only from next week onwards, for my part, I hope they go on to win all their games”.
Sporting, known rival
“I’ve seen all their matches, I like to watch my teammates and friends. They have quick players on the wings like last year, and have combined quality players to maintain possession, such as Víctor Rodríguez and Moi (Gómez). They’re a good squad, but football has its ups and downs, and at the moment they’re in the middle of a bad run. We’ll try to make the most of their lack of confidence to take advantage in front of our fans”.
Return to winning ways at La Rosaleda
“At home we always need to try and claim the three points, as we’re playing in front of our supporters. They give us the boost we need, and have done on numerous occasions, which we must use to climb the table and reach our desired positions in the rankings”.
Versatile on the wings
“The preference is always to play football, being in the starting-11 is the most important thing. On the left wing I can make the most of my strengths, as I’ve been playing in that position for many years. The more I play on the right, the more confidence and skills I’ll gain, that are required for that position”.
Near future
“We’re got an extremely demanding calendar of away games coming up against major teams, and we know that earning points away is more of an uphill struggle than at home. We need to focus on victory at home, and if we can’t win away, then we must at least earn a point”.
