Joaquín: “After a magnificent first half we let our guard down and we suffered”
Málaga Club de Fútbol players, Ignacio Monreal and Joaquín Sánchez, spoke to journalists in the Mixed Zone after the Athletic de Bilbao and Málaga match (3-0).
Monreal “The team went out with intensity and all guns blazing, with 45 very good minutes and with many opportunities although without scoring the necessary points. In the second half we didn’t come out the same and they scored thanks to their aerial set pieces and it was difficult playing against that advantage.”
“It’s an unjust result but in football it’s goals that count. Now we have another match at home against Zaragoza and there’s a lot to play for. We’ll continue to go out for those three points as we always do.”
Joaquin “We had a magnificent first half. But then they took advantage of their occasions in the second half. It’s a real shame as you feel like it’s almost unjust; we wanted to repeat how we’d played in the first half.”
“In grounds such as this if you let your guard down you suffer and that’s what happened today.”
“Personally, I’m happy for having had minutes and for beginning to help out out my teammates.”
